I have decided to make better use of my LJ. To that end I am going to try and create a fair and accurate record of why Totally Shit FM is ruining my life. That way, if anything bad happens, I will have a paper trail already prepared, and will be able to plead extenuating circumstances, or provocation.

On Thursday morning they played that song about getting lost in the rock 'n roll and drifting away. I mentioned to the idiots I work with that it seemed to get rather a lot airplay and some of them pointed out that it deserves a fair bit of airplay because it's a fucking classic, man.
I, in turn, pointed out that sometimes too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
I politely suggested that there was a lot of classic music to get through and perhaps some of the other greats should get a guernsey occasionally, especially since Better To Be Poked In The Eye With A Blunt Stick FM is not actually a "classic rock" station. Their focus is mainly contemporay MOR shit, because their target demographic is stupid people. (The kind of people our American friends and intellectual equals call trailer trash or tornedo bait).
I'm pretty certain I did not say all of this out loud, just the polite bits. I am soooooo keeping my cool at work some days.

On Friday morning LIRAR was played at exactly 6:35 am. If I don't get drunk and forget, I am going to keep a record of this stuff and publish my findings as the LIRAR report. And then I will say "AH Ha! I fucking told you so". And then my co-workers will probably just say "Yup" and go back to droning on about the weather.

A quick word on the subject of weather conversations. An auntie of mine used to say "you call always talk about the weather". I'm pretty certain that was simple country folk wisdom, meaning that the weather was always there to be talked about. Where I work it is more true in the sense that people talk about the weather ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
As Posties, we spend a certain amount of each day outside, where the weather is, delivering the mail. If it rains, we get rained on. If it doesn't rain, we don't get rained on. It seems pretty straight-forward. You wouldn't think there would be much talking to be done about it, would you?
If you thought that you be so wrong. You would be the wrongest person ever. You would be wronger than a bear that tried to make his fortune selling urine flavoured breath mints. Apparently there is no end to the amount talking to be had on this one. The problem is that everyone has opinion but no-one really knows for certain. The only ones that do know for certain are cows and ants, but they can't deliver the mail. I bet a horse could though, remind me to tell you all why later.

Sometimes people want my input on this vital, if enigmatic, weather issue. This takes place in two realities.
In the more familiar, "out loud" reality there is a fairly common script
Co-worker: "What do you reckon, Tenbears, is it going to rain this arvo?"
Tenbears: "I have no idea, that's why I always carry wet weather gear with me"
Co-worker: " Yeah. Me too. I just wondered if you knew, that's all."

The the other, less common (but no less valid) reality goes more like this
Co-worker: "What do you reckon, Tenbears, is it going to rain this arvo?"
Tenbears: "I have no idea. Neither do you. None of you any idea at all about this or anything else for that matter."
*raises voice* "It will either rain or it wont. "
*raises voice a little more* "Me having to listen to you fucking morons crap on about for a fucking hour wont change a fucking thing."
*voice to eleven* "Now shut the fuck up, you fucking morons, and turn that fucking radio off too."

I do wish other people be bit more philosophical about these matters.
